Our History New Kingdom Ministries International developed its roots long before it ever began. Pastor John Barton was raised in a small full gospel church under the leadership of his uncle and first mentor, Bishop Earl Alexander, Sr. of Faith Mission Church Outreach in Marksville, LA. Coming from a strong spiritual heritage, Pastor Barton gave his life to the Lord at a young and tender age. His mother has also been a strong spiritual influence in his life and has served in ministry for over 35 years. After graduating from high school in 1996, Pastor Barton decided to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USL at the time). He committed to the call of God on his life at the age of 18 and began public ministry at 19. While attending college, he took pastoral training under the mentorship of Bishop Drew Rousse of Faith Cathedral World Outreach Ministries in New Iberia, LA. During this preparatory stage, he served faithfully as the Bishop’s armorbearer for over five years. He was licensed and ordained through Faith Cathedral in January 2002 and sent back to Marksville to help launch a church founded by his mother - Pastor June A. Barton. During this time, Pastor John served as assistant pastor, administrator, and vice president of Church for Deliverance Outreach Center alongside his family – mother, father, sister, and identical twin brother. While serving in ministry, Pastor Barton was also highly involved in the public school system as a teacher, life skills coordinator, and basketball coach. Many young people have been greatly influenced by his passion and Godly example. After five years of giving back to the community in which he was raised, Pastor Barton stepped out on faith to launch New Kingdom Ministries International. Prior to the launch, a core group of eight people met for three months to pray, plan, and establish the organizational structure of the church. The first official service of NKMI took place September 4, 2007 at the Holiday Inn Holidome with 65 people in attendance. Since then, the ministry has grown steadily with a current membership of over 300 parishioners. God has remained faithful to send staff, willing workers, and intercessors to help fulfill the vision and impact the city for Christ. Many ministries have been birthed within the church such as: Men of War, Women of Worth, Youth & Young Adult Ministry, Kingdom Treasure Hunters (Children’s Ministry), Out the Box Ministry (Outreach), Healing Hands Ministry, Music Ministry, Nursery, and Life Group Fellowships. At NKMI, souls are being saved and added to the church, new converts are being discipled, and believers are being spiritually fed and taught the word of God. Pastor John Barton is also a member of the Azusa Louisiana Pastors Association under the direction of Bishop Drew Rousse. This network is comprised of senior pastors and bishops from within the state of Louisiana - and abroad - and serves as a spiritual covering and forum for Godly counsel and wisdom in matters pertaining to today’s church. Pastor John Barton is also the founder and president of John Barton Ministries, Inc. JBM impacts the lives of people all over the world. Teaching practical and biblical principles with simplicity and revelation, he empowers listeners to seize their God-given destiny. This is made possible through Living Your Destiny television and radio broadcasts, online media, print publications, and national conferences. Pastor Barton is a great example to today’s church, youth, and young adults of what it means to keep God first and live life to the fullest. He has invested his entire life into the Kingdom of God - serving people, teaching believers, preaching the gospel, training leaders, and winning souls to Christ. The vision of New Kingdom Ministries International is definitely living up to its standard of being the place where new life begins. |
